Aida is a Textile Development student and artist who is from both Georgia & North Carolina,
but she currently resides in New York City

At the age of 4, she began dancing. That passion of hers took her all over the country for various training opportunities. At 15, she was accepted into her dream school, the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. She moved out of her mother’s home in Atlanta and back to the state in which she was born to chase her dream. She studied contemporary dance while living in one of the dorms. Aida was exposed not only to dance, but she was also exposed to the visual arts. She was even allowed to explore the other arts, and this made her realize maybe it was time to part ways with her old passion for dance and begin exploring her new love of fine arts. After all, 13 years is a long time to stick with something, and she had already accomplished so much. This new exploration would lead her to the Savannah College of Art and Design, where she was a sculpture major and fine art photography minor. Now, though, she is at FIT for working towards an Associate's in Fine Arts and a Bachelor of Science in Textile Development & Marketing.

The work she began to create at UNCSA and after, all deal with and present her inner thoughts, emotions, and battles. The complexity of gender and transness, as well as the impact it has on a person is at the forefront of the subject matter that appears in her work. She wants to push the envelope, heal her wounds, and fight for what she believes in. At the moment, more specifically, she is playing with the idea of concealment.

When she is not working or studying, though, you could probably find her attending a dance or hot yoga class. There is also a high chance you would find her sharing cute and funny content of monkeys.
