P.P.
Self-portrait, digital photography
2022
P.P. (Panty Project), was a very exciting passion project. Developed from a past experience I had in 2020, when I purchased my first pack of panties. I was alone one night in my dorm. My roommate was off somewhere, and I had noticed a loose thread on the panties I was wearing. That one loose thread sparked something in me to completely unravel the panties. I then photographed myself in various poses emoting a trapped and helpless feeling. I got the idea recently to recreate this on a larger scale. I used a dark background to create an isolated feeling. I wore extensions to heighten the feminine energy. I poured water on my head because I felt it would evoke an idea of an invasion of privacy like walking in on someone in the shower. I used about 12 pairs of panties to create this and dyed them all shades of pink and red. This piece showcases my struggles with connecting my inside with my outside, the gender binary, and becoming the person on the inside.
